Our Lyme disease test detects the IgM antibody (Immunoglobulins M) produced in the body during a Lyme disease infection. IgM antibodies against Borrelia appear 2 to 4 weeks after a tick bite.
Untreated Lyme disease can spread to the nervous system, brain, heart, skin, and joints. As Lyme disease is a bacterial infection, antibiotic treatment prescribed by a doctor is necessary. If Lyme disease is treated early, the spread of the infection is prevented, and you can fully recover without complications.

Have you been bitten by a tick and worried that you may have contracted Lyme disease? The Quicktest Borrelia test provides a rapid and highly accurate answer as to whether or not you are infected with Lyme disease. Our test detects the IgM antibody (Immunoglobulins M) produced to fight the Lyme disease infection. This is a simple home test for Lyme disease that you can perform with a quick and painless finger prick, and a drop of blood on the test cassette, and you'll have the result in just a few minutes.
Lyme disease is a tick-borne illness caused by a bacterium. It often begins with a skin rash and a red ring around the bite, but not always. You may also experience fever, headache, and muscle or joint pain. In addition to symptoms of infection, you may also experience nausea, weight loss, pain in the arms, legs, neck, or back, or temporary facial paralysis. There is no vaccine for Lyme disease, but it can be treated. Untreated Lyme disease can spread throughout the body and lead to serious consequences.
It can be difficult to detect Lyme disease from a tick bite, and some people may not even know that they have been bitten. Symptoms usually occur two to six weeks after the tick bite, but sometimes it can take up to three months. The symptoms are quite general, and only half of all Lyme disease patients get a red ring or redness around the bite. These patients usually receive prompt treatment. If, however, you have more indistinct symptoms that are not visible, it may take longer before the infection is even detected. A positive Lyme disease test result (you are infected with the Lyme disease bacterium) means that you can seek medical attention more easily and quickly and get the right treatment, which is important as Lyme disease can cause serious complications. If you suspect or know that you have been bitten by a tick and are worried about Lyme disease, a rapid test can alleviate your concerns.
Note: The Quicktest Borrelia test does not make a diagnosis. A positive result indicates an infection and a physician should be contacted for further investigation and treatment.

The most common early symptom is a ring-shaped redness on the area where you were bitten by a tick. Usually, the redness appears between 1-4 weeks after the bite. But a Lyme disease infection can also cause more general symptoms such as fatigue, headache, joint pain, fever, and chills.
An untreated Lyme disease infection can lead to serious complications and can spread to the nervous system, causing neuroborreliosis. Neuroborreliosis is our most common bacterial meningitis and is more common in children than in adults. Common signs of neuroborreliosis, in addition to fatigue, headache, and nausea, include temporary facial paralysis and radiating pain.
It is recommended to perform the test 2-4 weeks after a suspected tick bite or when a red mark appears where the bite occurred. Note that only 1-2% of tick bites result in Lyme disease. A positive result indicates a Lyme disease infection and a doctor should be contacted for further evaluation and treatment.
No. Our tests cannot be used to make a diagnosis; they are used to provide an indication. It is always a doctor who makes the diagnosis, often after various tests and clinical examinations. With our rapid test for Lyme disease, however, an infection can be detected early, and treatment can be initiated quickly to work effectively.
Studies show a high reliability of 93%. Note that antibodies are produced when Lyme disease has been in the human body for a longer period. If the test is performed too soon after you have been infected, your body may not have developed enough antibodies for the test to detect them. This will give you a "negative" result even if you have Lyme disease. If you know you have been bitten by a tick, the recommendation is to take the test 2-4 weeks after the bite.
No, the test should not be used if you have recently taken antibiotics. Since our Lyme disease test detects antibodies produced to fight the Lyme disease infection, the test can also detect an older infection.
Borrelia is a bacterial disease that is spread by ticks. The vast majority of people experience relatively mild symptoms. After being treated with antibiotics, most people recover completely.
For others, the disease spreads to the nervous system and joints, and in these cases, it can take longer to recover. Early detection of this bacterial disease increases the chances of a full recovery.
