Candida is part of the natural microflora in the vagina, but sometimes the balance is disturbed and Candida increases, which can cause symptomatic infection. With our self-test for Candida, you can easily and discreetly test yourself for vaginal yeast infection caused by the white yeast fungus Candida albicans. Candida is common in women of childbearing age and about 75% of all women experience symptomatic genital infections at some point. Hormones, use of birth control pills, medication or antibiotics, pregnancy, and changes in the immune system affect the pH value and can make the body more susceptible to Candida infection. Although Candida albicans infection is common in women, many are misdiagnosed or mistreated.
Symptoms of vaginal yeast infection include:
Less commonly, other discomforts may occur, such as digestive problems, repeated infections, acne, eczema, various skin infections, and allergies. Candida albicans "feeds on" sugar during the fermentation process and can thus cause slight low blood sugar, which is often accompanied by fatigue, headaches, mood swings, and cravings for sweets, coffee, or alcohol.
People who have any of the above symptoms may be suspected of having an overgrowth of Candida albicans and need to be tested. Our Candida test is also suitable for those who have undergone Candida treatment and want to know if they have been cured of the infection. It is important to test oneself so that the right treatment can be initiated. If one has problems with Candida in the genitals, both partners should be treated because genital yeast infections are transmitted during sexual intercourse. Men can react to the yeast fungus' toxins but rarely get the infection themselves.
Our Candida albicans test is conveniently and discreetly performed at home with a simple urine sample. The first urine of the day is best as the level of bacteria and chemicals in your urine will be higher.
A positive test result means that proteins from candida albicans, which cause candida infection, have been detected in your urine sample. We suggest that you consult with your doctor regarding further steps and treatment.
A negative test result means that no proteins from candida albicans have been detected in your urine. It is probably another pathogen or organism causing your symptoms. Candida and bacterial vaginosis are two conditions that are very common and give similar symptoms. We suggest that you consult with your doctor for further examination.
Candida and bacterial vaginosis are two conditions that are very common and give similar symptoms. You may also have bacterial vaginosis along with a candida infection. It may be a good idea to test for both candida and bacterial vaginosis. However, treatment differs between these two conditions.
