Quicktest Egg Allergy Test is a simple self-test that detects if you have a sensitivity to the allergens found in hen's egg white. Egg allergy is a common food allergy that means you are allergic to the proteins found in eggs. Most people with egg allergy react to egg white.
Egg allergy is most common in early childhood, but it also occurs in older children and adults. Today, eggs are often used as an ingredient in many different foods, which means an egg allergy sufferer can have a reaction to more than just the raw egg itself.
Note that this self-test is not used for diagnosis and should only be used for a preliminary indication. A licensed physician should always make the diagnosis.
It is common for egg allergy to manifest as skin redness, hives, eczema or itching on the skin and face. Swelling of the lips and face, coughing, difficulty breathing and dry, itchy throat and tongue can also occur. Another relatively common symptom of egg allergy is gastrointestinal problems such as stomach pain, diarrhoea or vomiting.
How the allergic reaction manifests is highly individual, some can consume small amounts of egg products without a noticeable reaction while others can have a life-threatening anaphylaxis (acute/severe allergic reaction) right away. Since cross-allergy is common, we recommend our other allergy tests that analyze some of the most common allergens in the Nordic region, including cat, dust mite, and grass allergy.

Egg allergy is common in young children, but older children and adults can also have this allergy. Some people may have egg allergy without knowing it, as symptoms can sometimes be mild.
Typical symptoms of egg allergy are skin reactions such as eczema, hives, and itching/irritation on the skin and face. You can also experience vomiting, stomach pain, and diarrhea. Severe allergic reactions, including fatal outcomes, have occurred but are rare.
The Quicktest Egg Allergy Test is performed quickly and easily at home. After placing your order, you will receive a complete sampling kit. The test is performed by a simple finger stick with the included lancet, and then you collect a drop of blood with a pipette. The blood is placed on the test cassette and within a few minutes, you have the result. The self-test can be used even if you are taking medication, and you do not need to have an ongoing allergic reaction for the test to be reliable.
Yes, our egg allergy test can be used on children. However, we do not recommend testing on children under 3 years of age. The reason is partly that the lancet is not intended for children younger than that. Another reason is that blood sampling should be performed by medically trained personnel who are used to handling children during sampling. If your child is under 3 years of age, you should contact the healthcare system.
Quicktest Egg Allergy self-test has shown good comparison results with laboratory tests, but this self-test should not be used for diagnosis and should be used for a preliminary indication only. A licenced physician should always make the diagnosis.
