Food Intolerance Test - 140 Substances

Product Description

Test yourself for food intolerance

Our food intolerance test analyzes intolerance to 120 common foods as well as 20 common additives, preservatives, and colorings. The test also identifies which foods the immune system reacts to and which may be a contributing factor to various symptoms.

The analysis is done from a blood drop taken from a simple finger stick. The blood sample is sent with a pre-paid letter directly to our laboratory. Our Biomedical Analysts (BMA) analyze the sample and look for specific IgG antibodies for the most common foods and additives. High levels of specific IgG antibodies indicate that you have inflammation caused by food intolerance. When the analysis is complete, a digital comprehensive test report is sent to you, clearly showing which intolerances have been detected.

What is food intolerance?

Food intolerance, or hypersensitivity reaction, to different foods and additives is becoming increasingly common. Food intolerance means that you lack the enzymes needed to break down and absorb certain foods. Common food intolerances are eggs, cow's milk, fish, citrus, shellfish and nuts. The body then has a lower tolerance for the food, and every time you consume it, a reaction is created in the body that gives rise to various discomforts and health problems, as well as increases the risk of other inflammatory diseases. Unlike allergies, symptoms of food intolerance are often delayed, which means that it can take several hours before any symptoms appear. This often makes it difficult to detect an intolerance and link it to something you have eaten.

Symptoms of food intolerance

Many symptoms are indistinct, such as:

  • Stomach problems such as constipation/diarrhoea/gas/bloating
  • Headaches or migraines
  • Various skin problems such as itching/rash/acne/eczema/rosacea
  • Fatigue and sleep problems
  • Anxiety, depression or worry
  • Mood swings
  • Itchy ears, stuffy nose & breathing problems
  • High heart rate

A person with undetected food intolerance exposes their intestines to stress when they eat a substance that the intestines lack enzymes to break down. At each exposure, regardless of quantity, the intestinal villi are damaged, which can impair the ability to absorb vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. It is therefore common to see deficiency states in food intolerances, including Iron deficiency and Vitamin D deficiency.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is being tested?

  • 120 common food items such as grains, dairy, coffee, tea, eggs, vegetables, fruits, and animal products. Simply put, the most common foods.
  • 20 additives such as preservatives and colourants.

Note! Our Food Intolerance Test cannot analyze intolerances for lactose, fructose, sorbitol, histamine, and gluten. Since these intolerances are not based on IgE or IgG4 antibodies, they can only be analyzed using other tests.

What is the difference between food intolerance and allergy?

Food intolerance is due to an abnormal sensitivity to a food item and should not be confused with an allergic reaction. In an allergy, the body produces IgE antibodies that activate substances that release histamines. These usually create an immediate and often severe reaction after ingestion or exposure to the substance. In a food intolerance or sensitivity reaction, the body also produces antibodies, called IgG antibodies, which differ from those produced in an allergic reaction as they do not involve antibodies in the immune system.

Can you recover from a food intolerance?

By excluding the foods that you are intolerant to, the inflammatory process can be reduced and even disappear completely. In this way, the body can recover and gradually you can begin to try to reintroduce the food items again.

How is the test result presented?

When the analysis is complete, a detailed digital test report is sent where you can clearly see any intolerances that have been detected. In the test result, you also receive recommendations on what you should avoid. The test result is based on the degree of intolerance corresponding to three different levels, so depending on how intolerant you are, you receive elimination and reintroduction recommendations thereafter.

Can children take the test?

Yes, the test can be performed on children over 3 years old.

Do you have to have eaten what you may be intolerant to for the test to react?

No, it can also show if you are intolerant to a food that you have never eaten because your metabolism has a natural predisposition for intolerance (small variations in DNA for the genes that are most involved in food metabolism).

If I haven't eaten a specific food for several years, can the test still show that I am intolerant to it?

Yes, if you have a genetic predisposition for intolerance.

How does the test work? What indicates intolerance?

Our laboratory reads blood samples with the ELISA method, which is a Swedish invention at Stockholm University. It checks for specific antibodies (IgM) against proteins in each food item in the analyzed sample. When the result is positive, the reaction that takes place is quantified by an instrument (low-level, medium-high, or high-level).

How reliable is the test?

The ELISA method is internationally recognized and has been approved by all institutes in the diagnostics world. The reliability is therefore high.

Where are the tests analyzed?

All tests are analyzed in our laboratory by specialized biomedical analysts and doctors. When the blood sample is received by our lab, you will receive your results within approximately 8 working days.

How does it work?

With an included lancet, you prick a chosen finger, and a drop of blood is placed on a special test pad. Stop the test pad in the prepaid envelope. Our laboratory analyzes your blood and when everything is ready, you will receive an email.

The Doctor Says...

If you experience recurring symptoms such as upset stomach, headaches, skin rashes, or nasal congestion, it could be due to intolerance to one or more specific foods. Even additives commonly found in our food can cause problems.

Some people have symptoms that can be linked to food intolerance without knowing it. With a food intolerance test, you can get clear indications of which foods you should be careful with.

Mattias
Have had some problems with my stomach since adolescence, nothing directly serious but clearly it has affected one... symptoms such as sensitive stomach, stomach ache, fatigue, etc... the test confirmed what I suspected; intolerance to grain and milk. Excluded it as best as possible and the results have been above expectations :)
Langston
Finally an answer (I hope) to what has caused so many stomach problems. I am very glad I did the test. /Langston
Anonym
Very interesting to get a summary of what has been causing stomach problems for many years. Exclusion is going well!
Jesper
Bought a food intolerance test and was super happy! Clear instructions, easy sampling and quick response. Finally confirmed that I have a few things I need to avoid in my diet after all. Highly recommended +++++
Mia
Easy to do, results came quite quickly and were easy to read. It's a pity that Bank ID is required, but that's how it is today.
M.R
Yes it was a lot to take in... was intolerant to 7 different foods. Feels like a relief to know now. Will follow the advice to avoid and reduce it, will be interesting to see how it affects the stomach. Easy to do at home! / M
Karen
It was good, finally got an answer to what I always thought was causing problems... sad that the contents of wine is one of these substances but thats just how it is. I'm glad I did the test, but it took 8 days before I got the result. Apart from that, I can recommend, easy to perform and everything worked as it should. Now it will be to "restore" the stomach and see how it will be in the future.
Angelica
Glad I did it, can't say it any other way. Have changed some of the diet and already feel a change :)
Maria
Incredibly fast delivery of the test, easy to perform and a quick result delivered to the email within a few days. I am extremely happy with the whole process. Incredibly nice to get confirmation and knowledge of which foods I am sensitive to and which I should avoid to feel better in the future. Can highly recommend this test!
Hanif
It was about time I tested for intolerance, am satisfied with everything from delivery to report. Would be nice if you were clearer with exactly what is tested on the product page but still give 5/5 (maybe a slightly weak 5 but yes, after all, I am happy that I can now try to avoid certain foods)
