Our Gluten Test detects IgA antibodies that are directly associated with celiac disease/gluten intolerance.
Undiagnosed gluten intolerance can cause damage to the villi in the small intestine, leading to poor absorption of various nutrients and can lead to malnutrition and ill health. If our test shows positive, it means there is a good reason to seek medical attention for further examination and diagnosis.

Gluten intolerance, also known as celiac disease, is a chronic inflammatory condition where the body is unable to tolerate the protein gluten. Common symptoms include stomach discomfort, fatigue, and weight loss. With the Quicktest Gluten test, you can find out if you suffer from gluten intolerance. Our gluten test comes with a home sampling kit and is performed by taking a blood sample from a fingertip prick. In cases of gluten intolerance, elevated levels of IgA antibodies against tissue transglutaminase are usually seen. Our gluten test indicates anti-tissue transglutaminase IgA antibodies in the blood. Note: If gluten has been eliminated from the diet during sampling, or if one is on a gluten-free diet, there is a risk of a negative test result even if gluten intolerance is present. If you are on a gluten-free diet, it is recommended that you eat at least one meal a day for 14 days before testing to obtain a more reliable test result.
In celiac disease, also known as gluten intolerance, the body's immune system is activated when gluten is eaten and attacks the gluten in the intestine. When gluten proteins, which are found in wheat, rye, and barley, reach the small intestine, an autoimmune reaction is triggered. This causes the immune system to attack the villi of the small intestine's mucous membrane, causing inflammation. If the small intestine is exposed to gluten for an extended period, the inflammation becomes so severe that it has difficulty absorbing nutrients. The body then suffers from malnutrition. Untreated celiac disease increases the risk of complications such as iron, vitamin, and trace mineral deficiencies.
Gluten intolerance/celiac disease can affect both children and adults. The disease occurs and appears in all age groups, young and old. The only treatment for gluten intolerance currently is a strict gluten-free diet.
The most common symptom of gluten intolerance is stomach discomfort such as bloating, diarrhea, constipation, weight loss, and nausea. But celiac disease can also cause other symptoms that may not be as apparent and may vary greatly between individuals. One may experience fatigue, depression, mouth blisters, skin rashes/eczema, and joint and skeletal pain. In some cases, symptoms of gluten intolerance can also manifest as delayed growth in children.

Gluten intolerance (Celiac disease) is a chronic autoimmune disorder that affects the small intestine and therefore also the body's nutrient absorption. Untreated celiac disease increases the risk of complications such as iron, vitamin, and trace metal deficiencies. Suffering from untreated gluten intolerance often has a significant impact on quality of life, but changing one's diet can significantly improve the daily life of those affected.
No. Celiac disease should not be confused with allergy, such as wheat allergy, where symptoms can be severe. If you have celiac disease/gluten intolerance, your body reacts to the proteins found in wheat, rye, and barley. The intestines are damaged, resulting in nutrient deficiency. In the case of allergy to cereal, it is usually wheat that is not tolerated.
Celiac disease is to some extent hereditary, which means that people who have a close relative with celiac disease are at a higher risk of getting the disease. The risk of developing celiac disease is around 15 per cent if someone else in the family has the disease.
Celiac disease is a chronic disease that does not go away as many food allergies do. It is common for the symptoms that a person experiences after consuming gluten to vary throughout their life.
In untreated celiac disease, iron deficiency can be common. This is because the intestine, which has been exposed to gluten for a long time, can become so inflamed that it has difficulty absorbing nutrients. The body can then suffer from nutrient deficiency, including iron deficiency.
