Feeling tired, weak, and generally low? Then our combination package, the Large Health Check, may be just right for you.
The Large Health Check includes a test for iron deficiency, thyroid function, vitamin D deficiency, liver function, CRP (C-reactive protein) test, a test for diabetes, and blood in the stool. All tests are performed conveniently and easily from home.
The iron deficiency test shows if you have low levels of ferritin, the body's iron stores. If you have a low ferritin level, it means that you have iron deficiency, which can lead to a low haemoglobin level and a risk of impaired oxygen uptake and performance over time.
The thyroid function test shows if your thyroid gland is underactive if you have so-called hypothyroidism. This is quite common, and in fact, problems with the thyroid gland are often called our "hidden epidemic." It can be difficult to detect a thyroid disease based on symptoms alone, as the most common symptoms are very general.
The vitamin D test detects low levels of vitamin D. Vitamin D deficiency is a very common deficiency, especially for those of us living in the northern parts of Europe.
The liver function test shows if your liver is producing abnormally high levels of ALT and AST, which are specific liver enzymes. Elevated levels can be a sign of liver damage and/or liver disease, and can be caused by excessive alcohol consumption, among other things. Certain medications can also cause elevated levels.
The CRP test shows if you have an ongoing infection in the body, and is also known as the "sed rate" test. It is one of the most common tests performed at primary care centres and emergency departments. Note that an infection is not a disease but a condition, although it is a clear sign that something is not right.
The diabetes test is a simple urine test that reacts to glucose and ketones in the urine. These parameters are used together in the diagnostic evaluation of diabetes.
This test detects the presence of blood in the stool. It is often caused by haemorrhoids that can cause small bleeding, but blood in the stool can also be a sign of a serious illness and should always be investigated. The cause of invisible blood in the stool should always be investigated by a doctor.
