With The Stomach Check, you get the opportunity to test for some of the most common diseases and conditions related to stomach problems. Stomach problems are often related to stress and significantly impaired mental well-being. Six out of ten people experience stomach problems, which obviously affect their quality of life.
With The Stomach Check combination package, you get five different tests for a thorough stomach check. The included tests are for Stomach Ulcers, Gluten Intolerance, Blood in Stool, Calprotectin, and Rota-/Adenovirus.
The Gluten and Stomach Ulcer tests are blood tests performed with a quick prick of the finger. The blood is then dropped onto a special test cassette, and the results are displayed after a few minutes.
The Blood in Stool, Rota/Adeno, and Calprotectin tests are performed with a stool sample. The sample is mixed with a liquid and then dropped onto a test cassette. You also get the results within a few minutes! (For Blood in Stool, samples are collected for three days).
Detects the Helicobacter pylori bacteria, which is carried by about 90% of those with stomach ulcers.
Indicates Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase IgA antibodies, which are directly associated with gluten intolerance/celiac disease.
It is relatively common to find blood in the stool, and it can be caused by many different things. The most common is haemorrhoids, which are completely harmless. Another common cause is fissures in the anal opening. However, it should always be investigated.
Detects elevated levels of calprotectin, which can indicate an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Testing faecal calprotectin, and thus ruling out IBD, can help identify more people with IBS.
Detects Rotavirus, which is one of the most common causes of stomach flu. The virus causes, among other things, the classic stomach flu that is common in children between 1-6 years old. This test can also detect Adenovirus, which is a common cause of infection.
